Bio of Kym, the Founder.
Introduction
I was born and brought up in the industrial town of Aberavon, Port Talbot, South Wales, in the United Kingdom.
I am the third of four children, born in quick succession in just 6 years, to our parents Audrey and Ronald.
I married at the tender age of 21 and we bought our first house in my hometown. We went on to have two sons.
However in 1999 I found I had to leave the marriage after 19 years, and went through a very painful divorce for all those involved. This then propelled me into becoming a self employed sole trader. Firstly in Swedish and Indian Head Massage. Then Reflexology, Reiki and Yoga.
In March 2015 I sold my home and moved into a rented house in my neighbourhood. I then started my travels, in earnest, as I had travelled from an early age, with my family, then friends and my former husband.
Asia and Africa in 4 months
My first adventure in March 2015 was to travel by train from my home town, to London, on the Eurostar under the channel to Paris and on to Geneva, Switzerland. It took me 6 trains and 12 hours to reach my destination.
It was the most expensive place I have ever been to, but also a fascinating and peaceful city.
I then booked to fly from Cardiff Wales Airport, to Delhi India, from there i went on the Golden Triangle Tour, to Agra and the Taj Mahal. Next to the Pink City of Jaipur and the Amber Fort, and back to Delhi.
I next flew to Sri Lanka, which I loved and then on to Nepal, as they had an earthquake just a month earlier.
I flew back to Delhi, then flew to Ethiopia, where I just spent a few days relaxing, before flying on to Uganda where I sent about 6 weeks.
And finally I travelled to Kenya, by coach with my adoptive Ugandan son. On my return home, due to emotional reasons, I cleared out the remainder of my household items and went backpacking, to northern & southern Ireland, across to Scotland, down to Liverpool. Before making my way back to Sri Lanka, where I was offered the chance to teach in a Muslim International School.
Once in Sri Lanka, I connected via Facebook, with a school friend I had not seen for 40 years.
He had been working in Asia for 20 years and was at that time, working for Levi Jeans as an executive in Hong Kong. Things did not work out in Sri Lanka, so I told my friend that i wanted to move somewhere else. He suggested Northern Thailand. So I flew to Kuala Lumpur, on to Bangkok, spent the day there, then caught an overnight train to Chiang Mai. I also stayed in Pai which is further north. Went back to Uganda to visit my son Semakula Denis.
The next chapter
Next I went to Viet Nam, Laos, back to Thailand, to fly home in December 2016.
I was invited to stay with someone who found me on facebook, that I had also not seen since my school days.
She had a cottage she had inherited from her biological father. She offered for me to stay with her and in exchange for my lodgings I could do various household chores, as she said she suffered from various ailments.
That proved to be one of the worse situation of my life, so I returned to my country and was allowed temporary accommodation for the Christmas and New Year.
This was short lived and I found myself homeless. My own council were not helpful at all. So I ended up being supported by Swansea City Council, who paid for me to stay in a Bed & Breakfast Accommodation. I then cashed in my small private pension, of about £1,500 and used this to move into a one bedroom flat, in Swansea.
I went back to Uganda to visit my son and his siblings again. But on March the 20th 2020 I left Uganda at the start of the pandemic. Arriving back to Great Britain, which was on lockdown.
Final destination
In January 2021 I flew to Zanzibar, for the first time, as President Magufuli of Tanzania had not bought into the Covid agenda. Along with 4 other African Presidents. Unfortunately all 5 presidents died within an 18 period.
I was unable to leave Zanzibar, when my time there elapsed, due to quarantine regulations in the UK, after the UK government had made Tanzania a Red Country. So what had started as a 3 week stay, ended up becoming a 7 month one. But I fell in love with the country as soon as I arrived there. I have now been to Zanzibar 7 times and plan on returning there for a month in May, to teach Hatha Yoga and Host an Holistic Retreat.
In the meantime, I am setting up all possibilities, to teach my disciplines to tourists and residents, so that they can learn the beauty of alternative therapies. They receive British Certificates in the subjects.
I live on a plant based diet and am currently studying for my Vegetarian and Vegan Nutritional Therapy Course.
So my present and future is looking very bright.
I will be putting up my first ebook on my website, which is about the first 40 years of my life.
Next I will start on the second book, of my autobiographical series and who knows what else.
Stay blessed,
Kym
